Our Pastor
The Reverend Dr. Charlotte McSwine-Harris is a native of Greenwood, MS. and is the daughter of the late Hilliard and Elmira McSwine. She has completed both the Bachelor of Science (Mississippi Valley State University) and the Master of Divinity (Virginia Union University) degrees. Charlotte completed her Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL and currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology Virginia Union
University.
From her beginning in the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church (Money, Mississippi), Charlotte has been active in the church. She was licensed to preach the gospel by the late Rev. Dr. Mac Charles Jones and the St. Stephen Baptist Church (Kansas City, Missouri) and was ordained American Baptist by the Rev. Dr. James Henry Harris and the Second Baptist Church (Richmond, VA). It was at Second Baptist Church (SBC) that Charlotte was thrust deeper into ministry first as a student intern, assistant to the pastor and finally as Minister of Christian Education. After a 10 year tenure at SBC, Charlotte was called to serve as Youth Minister at Genesis Baptist Church (Greensboro, NC) under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Gregory T. Headen. After serving nearly two years, Charlotte was called to pastor the Little Elam Baptist Church (Charles City, VA). She served there for six months and was released to a work that the Lord made possible - a new and exciting ministry emerges as the Charles City Community. Hence the Charles City Community Church was birthed on March 24, 2002.
She is married to Mr. Glenn Harris of Chesterfield County, Virginia and they are the proud parents of Imani Lottie-Anna.
